Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter One of Year Five of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous year, you managed to accomplish a great many things.

You found out that the sleepwalking curse has struck Hogwarts and realized it has something to do with one of the Cursed Vaults. Thanks to your dedication and perseverance and with the tremendous help from your friends, you managed to find it, break the curse, and once again save all of Hogwarts.

Now is the time for new lessons, new friendships, and new adventures.

Summary

Walkthrough

Upon starting the chapter, you’ll find yourself at the Start-of-Term Feast in the Great Hall. You’ll immediately notice that there are speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those to find out what they have to say.

After that, Penny will greet you and congratulate you on becoming a Prefect (if you completed the adventure to become one).

She’ll then ask you about your summer holidays. There are three options to reply with. Each of the options will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick the one you prefer the most.

Penny will then introduce you to her little sister, Beatrice, who just got sorted into Hufflepuff.

She’ll immediately ask to join you on your next curse-breaking adventure. You have three options to respond with. Since this choice won’t significantly impact the story, it is recommended to select either the second or the third option to gain more attribute points.

Beatrice will then give you a toy Puffskein she made for you during the summer.

Shortly after, both of them will go to the Hufflepuff Common Room and you’ll get the task to catch up with your friends. Completing it requires earning at least one out of five stars within an hour.

As long as you start this task with a full energy bar, you should easily be able to complete it in one go. It is also worth noting that there is a bonus progress action linked to Charlie.

Shortly after you’re done, you’ll learn that the Headmaster is absent from Hogwarts, so Professor McGonagall will be the one to hold the traditional welcoming speech.

She’ll also introduce everyone to their new Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor – Patricia Rakepick.

Your next task involves meeting Bill in the Library. However, there is a waiting period of three hours before you’re able to proceed.

If you’ve completed Become a Prefect adventure, you will receive a side quest at this point. The quest is called Yer a Prefect and you can find the Walkthrough for it HERE.

In any case, you should proceed to the Charms classroom for your first lesson of the year.

To unlock the Cheering Charm lesson, you need to earn a total of nine stars from the Charms classes. There are several ways to do this, but perhaps two of the most popular ones involve doing three three-hour or two eight-hour classes. Once you are ready, hit the Start button to begin.

As always, prioritize the bonus progress actions whenever they are available. This should save you some energy.

Every time you earn a star, you’ll be given a mini-task. Completing it successfully will grant you ten Empathy points.

Once you obtain enough stars, the lesson will be unlocked, so head back to the classroom to attend it.

Learning the Cheering Charm is a three-hour task that requires you to earn five stars to pass. Because of this, you definitely want to avoid having low energy before starting the lesson.

Do this just like the classes you had before and you shouldn’t encounter any problems. During the lesson, Professor Flitwick will ask you a question about the Cheering Charm.

When you earn the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with casting the Cheering Charm. Trace the wand movement on the screen to perform it.

Congratulations! Your first lesson is now complete. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue.

You can claim an additional reward in the Charms section of your Hogwarts Record.

For your next lesson, proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Once you arrive, you’ll get the special look of the classroom (if this is your first time entering it).

You’ll also be able to interact with some of the students by tapping on their speech bubbles.

Madam Rakepick will introduce herself to everyone. She’ll be quite confident that she is going to teach for longer than one year.

You’ll then get to ask her one question. You have three possible choices, so this will be a nice opportunity to learn some information. Feel free to pick whichever option you prefer since this choice won’t impact the story in any significant way.

Shortly after, Madam Rakepick will ask you to cast the General Counter-Spell to remove the Concealment Charm she used earlier.

The moment you cast it, the ghoul standing next to the Professor will be revealed.

Not long after that, the lesson will begin. To complete it, you need to earn three stars within three hours.

This lesson is fairly similar to most of the three-hour classes you can take. Follow the same steps and you won’t have any trouble completing it.

And just like in any other class, focus on completing the mini-tasks to earn some additional Courage points.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.

You’ll be able to claim an additional reward in the Defence Against the Dark Arts section of your Hogwarts Record.

Madam Rakepick will ask what spell you would use to deal with the Ghoul. You have three options to choose from. Each of those is an effective way to deal with the creature, so you can pick the one you prefer.

You’ll then be tasked with casting the spell you chose at the Ghoul.

Shortly after, the class will be dismissed. Now that the lessons are done, you can proceed to the Library to meet Bill.

Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with certain characters and see what they have to say.

This is the first time you’ll meet Percy Weasley and his rat Scabbers.

You’ll talk for a bit and then decide to join the Weasleys for a study session. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. One star is required to pass.

Unfortunately, there are no actions with bonus progress available for this task, so you won’t be able to save much energy.

Shortly after you’re done, Madam Rakepick will appear and ask Bill and you to follow her to the Training Grounds.

Once you are ready, proceed there for your next task. When you arrive, you’ll notice that Merula is also invited. Apparently, the three of you were handpicked by the Professor to assist her with finding the next Cursed Vault.

You have three options to respond to her. All of these will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick the one you find the most appropriate for your character.

Shortly after, you will get the task to learn the Incarcerous Spell. To complete it, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are required to pass, you definitely want to avoid having an empty energy bar prior to starting the task.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Madam Rakepick. Prioritize it whenever it is available to save energy.

Once you are done, Madam Rakepick will ask you to cast the Incarcerous Spell at Merula.

The spell will work and Merula will be bound by the ropes. In fact, it will work so well that she’ll even struggle to breathe. You’ll need to quickly cast the Counter-Spell to free her.

Congratulations! You’ve just learned a powerful dueling spell. This one is usable in the Defensive stance and can Stun your opponent for two turns. Madam Rakepick will explain a few more things and then the lesson will be over.

Your next task is to meet Ben in the Courtyard. There is, however, a waiting period of three hours before you can proceed.

Head to the courtyard once the waiting time is over.

When you get there, Ben will be very surprised that you decided to show up. You can respond in three ways. If you like Ben, it is recommended to pick the first option. Bear in mind that you need to have Ben’s friendship level at 9 or higher to select this option.

You’ll then get a task to talk about Ben’s attack in the previous year. This is an eight-hour task that requires at least one out of five stars to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Ben, so focus on his actions if you want to save some energy.

Once you complete the task, Ben will ask if you still trust him after everything. You have three options to reply with. If you like Ben, it is highly recommended to pick the first option as long as your friendship level with him is nine or higher.

Not long after that, both of you will be attacked by the Mysterious Dark Wizard. It appears that whoever controlled Ben in the previous year has found someone else to manipulate this time.

The attacker will deliver a dire warning to you before leaving.

This will conclude Chapter 1 of Year 5. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience points.

What an exciting start! Now, this is sure to be an interesting year. Who could be behind those dark robes this time? And more importantly, who is the one pulling the strings? What are they trying to accomplish? Find out in the continuation of this amazing adventure.
