Walkthrough
But before that, you can get the lessons out of the way, so proceed to the Transfiguration classroom when you are ready.
To unlock Goldfinch to Golden Snitch lesson, you need to acquire a total of nine stars from Transfiguration classes. Select the class duration you prefer and hit Start to begin.
As usual, prioritize bonus progress actions to save energy.
And, as always, try to do all of the mini-tasks successfully in order to gain some additional Knowledge points.
When you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson, head back to the classroom to attend it.
Learning to transfigure Goldfinch to Golden Snitch requires obtaining five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this lesson with an empty energy bar.
Treat this lesson just like the classes you took beforehand, and you shouldn’t encounter any problems.
Once you earn all five stars, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to do so.
When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.
You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can claim it in the Transfiguration section of your Hogwarts Record.
One down, one to go. Proceed to the Herbology classroom for the second lesson of the chapter.
To unlock the Aconite lesson, you need to acquire nine stars from Herbology classes. As always, pick the class duration suitable to your liking and hit the Start button to begin.
Like before, you should focus on completing as many bonus progress actions as possible.
The same goes for mini-tasks since those will provide you with some extra Empathy points.
Return to the classroom once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson.
In order to complete this lesson, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There is not much of a difference between this lesson and the regular classes, so simply treat it as such.
Once you earn the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with fertilizing your plant. Trace the path on the screen to complete this task.
Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.
You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can collect it in the Herbology section of your Hogwarts Record.
Now that the lessons are out of the way, you can continue the story. Head to the Training Grounds to meet your fellow curse-breakers.
Once you arrive, Madam Rakepick will greet everyone and say a few words of encouragement.
You’ll explain a couple of things about Portkeys to the friend you chose in the previous chapter.
And Merula being Merula, she’ll instantly start complaining. Funny thing is, no matter who you chose, she’ll say that the other one would’ve been a better choice.
You’ll have the option to defend your choice or to side with Merula. This choice won’t have any significant effect on the story, so pick whichever option you want.
As it turns out, Ben is late. Madam Rakepick will suggest going on without him.
This is where one of the choices from the previous chapter will be referenced. However, it won’t impact the story in any meaningful way.
Just as you’re about to leave, Ben will show up. Apparently, he was writing a letter to someone important, which is the reason why he’s late.
Before you continue, you’ll be able to consult with Madam Rakepick. This requires earning at least one out of five stars within eight hours.
There are actions with bonus progress tied to Ben and Merula. Prioritize doing those if you are looking to save some energy.
Once you are done, everyone will grab the vault portrait, and the portkey will do its magic.
Shortly after, everyone will appear inside the vault.
Most of your friends will find this way of transportation quite “unpleasant”, and Madam Rakepick will explain that it is a common occurrence.
Once everyone is back on their feet, you’ll take a good look at your surroundings.
It appears that a dragon was indeed inside the vault at some point.
After discussing the situation for a while, Madam Rakepick will ask Merula to decide what to do.
The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will be overjoyed by this and she’ll suggest searching the vault. You can choose to agree with her or not, but ultimately, both options will lead to the same outcome.
In any case, you’ll get to look around and see if you can find anything interesting. To do that, you need to obtain five stars within eight hours. Only one star is needed to pass.
If you are looking to save energy, there are bonus progress actions tied to Bill, Madam Rakepick, and a huge chain on the ground.
Once you are done, Bill will suggest checking the portrait wall.
The friend you brought along will try to open the door, but sadly, it won’t work.
Ben will then try knocking on the door to see if that will yield any results.
Apparently, it will! The huge dragon will appear in the painting, which will terrify most of your friends.
Moments later, the angry dragon will burst out of the portrait.
This will cause a section of the ceiling to collapse, which will trap some of your friends.
Bill will quickly go to free the ones that are trapped.
Madam Rakepick will focus on preventing the rubble from burying you alive.
And your job will be to deal with the dragon. She’ll remind you to use the Conjunctivitis Curse to weaken the deadly beast.
Trace the wand movement to cast this spell.
You’ll then get to fight the dragon. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the cost of each attempt.
One of the easiest ways to deal with the dragon is to simply use Defensive all the way through. The reason for this is pretty simple. This will prevent the dragon from hitting you with its Defensive move, which deals 9 points of damage and can stun you for one turn. Its Sneaky move will hit you for 8 points of damage and will leave a 2-turn bleed for 3 damage per turn. Its Aggressive move will hit you for 15 damage.
If your health ever drops below half, you can easily heal with Wiggenweld Potion, and since you’re likely to have a significant attribute advantage, this will pretty much negate most of the damage dealt to you.
If your health is high enough, simply cast Bombarda to deal damage. Also, the dragon will be affected by a strong bleed effect at the start of the fight, which will slowly drain its health, and this complements well with the strategy.
Bear in mind that the dragon has a lot of health, so this will likely be a long duel, but if you use this strategy, you are almost guaranteed to win.
Once you win, the dragon will fall to the ground unconscious and Bill will manage to free all of your friends that were trapped by the rubble.
He and the friend you brought along will then attempt to open the door, but their efforts will prove futile.
Shortly after, you’ll feel that something is trying to claw its way into your head. According to Madam Rakepick, it’s the door.
You’ll then get to use Legilimency on the door. Trace the wand movement to cast the spell.
This will work, and the door will slowly open.
Your friends will be overjoyed to see this.
However, their joy will be short-lived as moments later, some powerful spell will knock everyone down.
You’ll notice Madam Rakepick near the door, smirking slyly at you.
Apparently, she was inside the vault before with Jacob and Peter Pettigrew, which means that the information you found in Jacob’s room was actually true!
She’ll explain what happened the last time she was inside the vault.
And the reason why she needed Jacob and you was your power of Legilimency.
This time, she decided to bring along more students in order to defeat the dragon.
She’ll then explain that last time, your brother opened the door, but didn’t defeat the dragon. Because of that, the curse was never broken.
Rakepick will also tell you how she got out of the vault. Once she touched the glowing column, she got transported to Forbidden Forest. She figured out that the curse needs to be broken before she can access the treasure.
To do that, she needed to find a way to return back to the vault.
Shortly after, she’ll say that she intends to kill you and your friends. She’ll start by casting the Cruciatus Curse on Merula.
You’ll quickly decide to do something about it. Trace the wand movement to cast the Disarming Charm.
Sadly, Rakepick will easily counter your spell and continue torturing Merula.
The rest of your friends will get back on their feet and they’ll also start attacking Madam Rakepick.
However, none of it will work, and she’ll easily repel their spells.
She’ll then confirm that she’s been working with ‘R’ all along.
You’ll suddenly remember the Garroting Gas Snape gave you.
Luckily, this will work and Madam Rakepick will start choking.
You and your friends will quickly use the opportunity to strike!
This will knock Rakepick down, but before you’re able to apprehend her, she’ll say a few more words and Disapparate from the vault.
You’ll quickly get to Merula to make sure she’s okay. She’ll tell you to go to your brother.
Tap on the icon on the door to proceed.
Immediately upon entering the next room, you’ll notice Jacob, trapped in a portrait.
His appearance will be quite different, depending on your character’s appearance, which is certainly a nice touch from the developers.
He’ll ask you to touch the column and free him. You have two options to choose from, you can either trust him or not. The following scene will play out quite differently depending on your choice.
This choice will affect some dialogue lines later on, andit is recommended to trust your brother and pick the first option. If you do that, you’ll receive a heartwarming reunion scene. In case you decide to doubt him, Bill will enter the room and free Jacob, so the outcome will be the same.
Shortly after, your friends will arrive and you’ll introduce them to your brother.
Despite her injuries, even the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts won’t miss the opportunity to meet the famous Jacob.
You’ll then tell him Rakepick brought you to the vault. You’ll also say that she betrayed you and tortured Merula with the Cruciatus Curse.
The look on his face says it all. You weren’t the only one betrayed by her.
He’ll tell you he needs to stop her. Whatever is inside the final vault can’t fall into ‘R”s hands.
You will strongly object to him leaving. However, it seems that your brother is very determined about this, so you won’t be able to convince him to stay.
He’ll then Disapparate from the vault, leaving you once again…
Shortly after, you’ll open the column, revealing the items hidden within it.
According to Bill, the portrait of Hogwarts might be your way out of the vault.
Everyone will take hold of the portrait, hoping that Bill is right about it.
And apparently, he is!
This will conclude Chapter 30 of Year 5. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 2000 Experience points.
What a chapter! You got to fight a dragon and free Jacob! And not just that, you also realized that ‘R’ is not one person, but a group, and Rakepick is working with them. What will happen now? Are all of the trapped students free? Will Merula be able to recover from the effects of the Cruciatus Curse? Find out in the next Chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery!
